The Salza waterfall
Hello dear friends of nature! Who knows the question of where to celebrate the beginning of the new year just before New Year's Eve? Some people want to celebrate at home with friends. Some people want to fly out to the biggest possible city to celebrate – and some people want to enjoy the beginning of the new year far away from any hustle and bustle in the mountains.
The latter was our plan in December 2016. To start planning in December usually is a bit late to get a cabin booked somewhere. But luckily, there is couch surfing.
Our motto was "don't end up in any bigger city" – we messaged couch surfers from all mountain regions in Central Europe – according to the plan "whoever answers first gets a visit from us".
The plan worked out, we ended up in Ramsau am Dachstein, an incredibly beautiful village near Schladming. Jonas, our couch surfing host, invited us to a small mountain hut for New Year's Eve right away. The evening there was unforgettable for us :)
The nice thing about couch surfing is that you get in direct contact with locals. Jonas showed us some beautiful places in the region after New Year's Eve. For example, the unknown Salza waterfall near Salza. Far away from any hustle and bustle, we were able to get some rest. A few photos were taken as well – see for yourself ;)
