Amaranth: radiant purple wood
Amaranth, also known as "Purple heart", is an exotic hardwood that has recently become increasingly popular because of its unique grain and color. Amaranth is typically found in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. At Holzkern, we only use FSC-certified amaranth wood to create our unique accessories.
What we love about amaranth wood
The most striking feature of amaranth wood is, of course, its color. It can vary from vibrant pinkish-red to deep purplish-brown. However, the typical color of amaranth wood only emerges once the hardwood is exposed to light. Before that, it is rather an inconspicuous gray. Its strength and durability make it ideal for making watches and jewelry. Amaranth wood is also known for its resilience, as it can absorb moisture without cracking or breaking.
